What is the Wassup in a Minute trend?

Wassup in a Minute, also written “wassup in a minute wassup” or “in a minute wassup”, is a TikTok animation meme from late October 2026: one full-body character at a time stands on plain white with a soft grey drop shadow and sways in place to a jersey club remix of Drake's “From Time”.

The name is a misheard lyric. Jhené Aiko's line “wassup, been a minute” is chopped into a short jersey club loop, most people hear “wassup in a minute”, and that is why the trend has several spellings.

The joke is the drip: anime characters in puffer jackets and chains, fanning cash like Atlanta rappers. Fans call that art style Atlanta Lock, after the Blue Lock soccer players it was first drawn on.

The format is easy to copy: a white backdrop, one figure at a time and a sway instead of a dance. Within a week fans had run it through Jujutsu Kaisen, One Piece and Roblox characters.

Where did the Wassup in a Minute song and sway come from?

  1. zbee (@zburrz) posts a jersey club remix of Drake's “From Time” built on Jhené Aiko's “wassup, been a minute” hook; it has about 629K views.

  2. A day after a first sway post (“Yoo they movin”, about 2.1 million views), @ristyisvalid posts four Blue Lock players redrawn as Atlanta rappers (art by Zayy), each swaying on white in turn, captioned “Wassup in a minute wassup”. The post names the trend and reaches about 2.7 million views and 521K likes.

  3. A Jujutsu Kaisen version by @2quan4 goes up; it now has about 2.4 million views, and its sound later became the main CapCut template's track. The same day Niana Guerrero's live-action dance to the remix starts a separate challenge.

  4. A four-photo CapCut template named “in a minute wassup” goes up; by November 5 it shows about 2.9 million uses; the same day, US Google searches for the name start to climb.

  5. Versions made from real photos of creators and friends spread, one by @mx.2tufff0 at about 332K views, and Know Your Meme adds an entry for “Wassup in a Minute Wassup”.

Drawn or real: two Wassup in a Minute templates

Both put one full-body figure on white with a drop shadow and make it sway. What changes is what happens to you.

Hand-drawn character with light brown hair in a black puffer, white tee, silver chain, baggy jeans and white sneakers, fanning green cash on white

Drawn character

Get redrawn as a 2D streetwear character

The model draws you fresh as a hand-drawn anime-style figure with clean line art and soft cel shading, dressed in the trend outfit. It keeps what makes you recognisable: face shape, hairstyle and hair colour, skin tone, glasses, beard and build. Your own clothes are swapped for the puffer look.

Young woman with long chestnut hair in a butter-yellow cropped cardigan, white tank and wide-leg jeans, cut out on white with a white outline and a grey shadow

Real you

Stay photographic, cut out on white

Nothing is redrawn: you keep your real face and the clothes from your photo. The model sets you on white with the same outline and shadow and makes your whole body sway, which suits outfit photos and anyone who wants to be recognised at a glance.

The four-slot “in a minute wassup” template tilts cut-outs you prepare yourself, and tutorials call the hand-keyframed version a character shake effect. Here one ordinary photo becomes the character and the whole body sways.

How do you make Wassup in a Minute with one photo?

Choose a version before you upload; the same photo works for both.

  1. Hand-drawn character of a young woman in a lilac puffer, chain and baggy jeans fanning cash on white, with her original full-length phone photo in the corner

    Photo 1You

The person or pet who becomes the character. The photo is a reference, not the opening frame: the model draws a new full-body shot from it.

    • A selfie works and the body gets filled in, but head to toe keeps your build
    • On Real you, the clothes in the photo are the clothes in the video

What the photo needs for a clean character

Works well

  • Woman in a denim jacket and jeans standing, whole body from head to shoesOne person, head to shoes
  • Ginger tabby cat sitting upright, whole body facing the cameraOne pet, whole body in view

Hard to draw from

  • Three friends squeezed into one selfie at a picnicSeveral people in one photo
  • Man in sunglasses and a low cap with a hand over his mouthSunglasses, caps or a hand over the face
  • Selfie under a cartoon filter with cat ears, huge eyes and stickersCartoon filters or stickers already on the selfie

One photo, one click, then post

  1. Add one photo

Choose Drawn character or Real you, then upload one photo of yourself or your pet.

  2. Generate

Change the length, frame or resolution if you like; the button shows the exact price before you start.

  3. Save and post

Save the video and post it to TikTok, Reels or Shorts with the trend sound.

Post it the Wassup in a Minute way

How to finish your Wassup in a Minute edit once the clip is made.

Add the wassup in a minute sound

In TikTok, open any trend post and tap its sound to use it, or search for it when you pick a sound. Turn the clip's own audio down so only the remix plays.

Example: Sound search: wassup in a minute

Do the four-friend relay

The original posts show four characters one after another, about three and a half seconds each, with a white flash between them. Make one video per friend, trim each to a few seconds and join them in order.

Example: you → best friend → roommate → the cat

Caption it with the lyric

Trend captions are short, built on the lyric and mostly emoji, so the clip does the talking.

Example: me after one photo: wassup in a minute 👀 wassup ✌️

Tag it where the trend lives

#wassupinaminute is where the trend's posts collect. Add what your clip shows: #anime for the drawn version, a pet tag for your dog or cat.

Example: #wassupinaminute #anime #catsoftiktok

What does the Wassup in a Minute character look like?

The look the trend started with has four parts. Drawn character makes all four around your face; Real you keeps your clothes and adds the backdrop and the sway.

  • Hand-drawn young woman with long chestnut hair in an open lilac puffer, white tee and silver chain, holding a fan of cash
    Outfit

    Oversized puffer and chain

An open puffer over a plain white tee, a chunky chain, baggy jeans and white sneakers: anime drip dressed like an Atlanta rapper. The drawn version leaves off logos, jersey numbers and text.

  • Close-up of a hand-drawn young woman in a cherry-red puffer and chain, winking while fanning green paper bills by her cheek
    Prop

    A fan of cash

One hand fans a short stack of bills at shoulder height, the prop the very first character in the trend holds.

  • Hand-drawn young woman in a sky-blue puffer and baggy jeans standing on white with a white sticker outline and a soft grey shadow
    Backdrop

    White backdrop, soft drop shadow

Plain white with a grey shadow behind the figure, often with a white sticker outline, so it reads like a cutout pasted on paper. No scenery, floor line or text.

  • The same hand-drawn young woman in a butter-yellow puffer drawn three times: leaning left, upright and leaning right on planted feet
    Motion

    The sway

The body rocks side to side from planted feet, the head nods along and one hand moves a little. No steps, turns or dance moves, and the camera never moves.

Wassup in a Minute AI prompt: drawn and real

Want to run the look yourself? These Wassup in a Minute AI prompts are written for MiniMax H3 reference-to-video: attach your photo as image 1, paste one in and pick 9:16. In tools that name references @Image1, rename image 1 to match.

MiniMax H3 reference-to-video

Prompt length 846

Use image 1 as the character reference. Redraw the person in image 1 as an original hand-drawn 2D anime-style character with crisp clean line art and soft cel shading, keeping their face shape, hairstyle and hair colour, skin tone, glasses and facial hair. Dress them in an oversized open puffer jacket, a plain white tee, a chunky silver chain, baggy light-wash jeans and white sneakers; one hand fans a small stack of cash at shoulder height, the other holds the jacket collar. Show the whole body from head to sneakers, centred, on a pure white background with a soft grey drop shadow behind the figure. The character sways side to side on the beat from planted feet, head nodding along, with no steps, turns or dancing, and ends in the starting pose. Fixed camera, one continuous shot, mouth closed. No logos, jersey numbers, text or scenery.

Keep in the prompt

  • Name the white and the shadow

Write “pure white background” and “soft grey drop shadow” together; either one alone tends to give a grey studio wall or a figure floating with no shadow.

  • Describe the sway as a lean

“Sways side to side from planted feet” reads as the trend; “dances” or “grooves” invites steps and spins.

Cut from the prompt

  • Anime character names

Asking for a Blue Lock or JJK character pulls in that character's face and outfit instead of yours.

  • Camera moves

Zooms, pans or cuts break the cutout-on-paper look; the trend is one fixed shot.

Turning “dance” into the sway

Too loose

make me dance to wassup in a minute as an anime character

Specific

the character sways side to side on the beat from planted feet, head nodding along, no steps or turns, fixed camera

The trend is a sway, not a dance: describe the lean of the body and what must not happen.

Wassup in a Minute results that miss, and how to fix them

What a run can get wrong, why it happens and what to change in the photo.

  • It came out semi-real or 3D, not drawn

    Why
A very detailed or heavily edited photo can pull the drawing back toward realism.
    Fix
Use a well-lit photo of one subject. If you want to stay photographic, Real you is the version built for that.
  • Feet or sneakers are cut off

    Why
From a selfie the model has to invent the legs and can frame the figure too tight.
    Fix
Upload a head-to-toe photo, and keep the 9:16 frame, which leaves the most room for a standing figure.
  • The background isn't pure white

    Why
A strong scene or floor in the photo can leak in as a grey gradient or a floor line.
    Fix
Pick a photo with a plain background. On Real you, avoid clothes that match the wall behind you, like a white shirt against a white wall.
  • The cash or the fingers look wrong

    Why
A hand fanning small paper bills is one of the hardest details to keep steady over every frame.
    Fix
Use a photo where your hands are visible and empty; it gives the drawing a cleaner start.
  • It barely moves, or walks off the spot

    Why
The sway is small on purpose, so a run can read as a still image or tip over into steps.
    Fix
Use a photo of you standing relaxed, not mid-step or mid-jump.
  • My pet stands up like a person

    Why
Fitting a jacket and chain can push the model to stand the pet upright.
    Fix
Use a photo of the pet sitting or standing on all fours, whole body in view.

Wassup in a Minute AI FAQ

Is the Wassup in a Minute AI generator free?+

No, each video uses credits. The price changes with the length and resolution you pick, and the Generate button shows the exact amount before you start. New accounts get 10 credits when they sign up.

Will a selfie work, or do I need a full-body photo?+

Yes. From a selfie the legs, sneakers and the rest of the outfit are filled in. A head-to-toe photo gives the best result because the model doesn't have to guess your height and build.

Can I make Wassup in a Minute with my dog or cat?+

Yes. Upload one photo of your dog or cat with the whole body in view. On Drawn character it gets a tiny puffer and chain and sways sitting or standing; Real you keeps it exactly as photographed.

Does the video come with the Wassup in a Minute song?+

No. The model generates a new soundtrack with every video, so it isn't the Drake remix. Add the wassup in a minute sound in TikTok when you post; the posting kit above shows how.

Is it “wassup in a minute” or “wassup been a minute”?+

They are the same trend. The lyric is Jhené Aiko's “wassup, been a minute” from Drake's “From Time”; the jersey club cut makes it sound like “wassup in a minute”, so you'll also see “wassup wait a minute”, “wasala in a minute” and “in a minute wassup”.

Is this the Atlanta Lock trend? Can I get a Blue Lock or JJK version?+

Atlanta Lock is the fans' name for the art style the trend started with: Blue Lock soccer players redrawn as Atlanta rappers in puffers and chains. Drawn character borrows that hand-drawn streetwear look and draws you as an original character. It does not draw Blue Lock, Jujutsu Kaisen or any other existing anime characters.

Can I make Wassup in a Minute with friends?+

One generation makes one character, so the four-in-a-row original is a relay: make one video per friend, each from their own photo, then join them in order. The posting kit above shows how to trim and stitch them.

Why doesn't my character look like me?+

Drawing a face in a 2D anime style changes its proportions, and the model treats your photo as a reference for a new drawing rather than a frame to keep, so some runs drift further from you than others. Generate again, or try a different photo from the checklist above. Real you keeps your face photographic.

Is this the Niana Guerrero wassup dance?+

No. Niana Guerrero's challenge is a live-action dance to the same remix. This effect makes the animated version: one character swaying in place on white. Her sound has about 4,800 TikTok videos.

Is this an official Wassup in a Minute or TikTok tool?+

No. Oeneo AI is not affiliated with TikTok, CapCut, Drake, zbee, Blue Lock or the creators behind the trend. This is an independent effect that builds the look from your photo.
