Why does the baby riding reindeer AI trend return each December?

The AI Christmas baby video is one photo turned into an 8-second ride: whoever is in the picture rides a small spotted fawn down a snow-covered main street while Santa, in his red sleigh, keeps pace behind.

It began as a CapCut template published in December 2025. The template sits behind a CapCut subscription, and the replies under the biggest posts are mostly about paying for it.

It is also posted as baby reindeer Santa; Spanish posts say bebé montado en un ciervo and Portuguese ones bebê montado em um cervo, all of them the same ride.

It has nothing to do with the Netflix series Baby Reindeer: the word riding is what keeps the two apart, which is why this page never drops it.

Five dates behind the clip

  1. The template goes up under the Portuguese title Feliz Natal: one photo in, a short ride out.

  2. A Peruvian account posts the first big one; it stands at about 1.25 million plays.

  3. Searches for AI Christmas videos peak for the season in the United States.

  4. European families start posting their own children again, six weeks earlier than last season.

  5. A Spanish-language post carries it to the United States and Mexico; about 597,000 plays by 2 November.

Play counts, template uses and search peaks read on 2 November 2026 from TikTok, CapCut and Google Trends.

Who can ride the fawn?

One template covers all four riders: the face and clothes come from the photo, and the fawn grows or shrinks to fit whoever sits on it.

  • A baby in a red knitted jumper riding a spotted fawn down a snowy street at night
    Baby

    The rider from the trend

A baby who can sit up holds on with both hands, jumper and all: this is the version filling the TikTok feed.

  • A child in a navy winter coat riding a spotted fawn through falling snow at night
    Child

    A bigger kid

The fawn stretches with the rider, so a six-year-old reads as a passenger rather than a toy.

  • A woman in a cream coat riding a spotted fawn on a snowy street, Santa's sleigh behind her
    Grown-up

    You, or a grandparent

The fawn scales up to the rider, so an adult works as a joke instead of a portrait.

  • A golden retriever in a red scarf sitting on a spotted fawn's back on a snowy street
    Pet

    A dog or a cat

The pet sits steady on the fawn's back instead of standing up like a person.

What the 8 seconds hold

One continuous shot, filmed from a low camera that reverses in front of the fawn the whole way.

  1. A spotted fawn with small antlers pushing forward through falling snow on a main street at night10:00–0:01

    The fawn sets off

The fawn pushes forward on the snowy street with the rider already on its back, and the camera backs away to keep both in frame.

  2. Red brick storefronts, garlands and lit Christmas trees sliding past behind the rider20:01–0:02

    The lit street slides past

Brick storefronts, garlands and decorated trees slide past behind the rider, with snow falling through the fairy lights.

  3. The rider on the fawn's back, bouncing with each step of the trot past lit storefronts30:02–0:03

    The rider rides the stride

The rider stays upright on the fawn's back and bobs with each step of the trot, hands holding on.

  4. A red sleigh with Santa holding the reins, softly out of focus behind the rider and the fawn40:03–0:05

    Santa's sleigh keeps pace

A red sleigh with Santa holding the reins trails behind them through the lights for the whole run.

Your ride comes back as 8 seconds in one take: the street and the sky are rebuilt for each photo, so they differ from run to run.

How do you turn one photo into the reindeer ride?

No prompt and no app: the street, the fawn and the sleigh are fixed by the template, and the photo only decides who rides. Only upload your own child, or one whose parent or guardian asked you to.

  1. A baby in a red knitted jumper sitting on a wooden floor, facing the camera

    Your photoRider

Whoever is in your photo takes the fawn's back: face, hair, age, build and clothes all come from the picture.

    • One rider per photo: a second child or a second pet in the same picture gets no seat.
    • Sitting up or standing, head to waist at least, face toward the camera.

The reindeer ride, from privacy to price

Is this the Baby Reindeer Netflix show?+

No. The trend and the series only share two words; the video is one photo turned into a reindeer ride, and nothing in it comes from the show.

What does “bebé montado en un ciervo” mean?+

“A baby riding a deer”: the Spanish name on the promo posts that carried the template to the United States and Mexico. Portuguese posts say bebê montado em um cervo.

Do I need the CapCut template or the app?+

No. You upload one photo on this page and download the finished clip. The CapCut template this trend started from sits behind a CapCut subscription, which is what most of the replies under the big posts complain about.

Will the video look like my baby?+

It reads as your baby when the face is clear and uncovered, because the hair, age and clothes come straight from the photo. Every run is generated fresh, so a result that drifts can be run again from the same photo.

Is the ride real?+

No. The street, the fawn and Santa are generated for your photo, and nothing is filmed; keep the platform's AI label on when you post the clip.

Can twins or two children ride together?+

No. One photo seats one rider, so two children need two clips.

Is my baby's photo private, and who can upload one?+

Results from this template stay private and never reach the public gallery. Upload your own child, or a child whose parent or guardian asked you to make the video.

What does a reindeer ride video cost?+

Each video costs credits, and the price depends on the length and resolution you pick; the Generate button shows it before the run starts. A new account gets 10 credits at sign-up.
