The Puerto Rican Mami dance is a two-person TikTok dance from October 2026: a phone propped on the ground, one 15-second take and six moves on a beat with a sitcom line in it, with the two dancers trading places halfway through.
10:01Side by side, both fling their arms up and out on the first hits of the beat.
20:03Arms spread wide, they sway side to side, then drift in toward the middle.
30:07Each pulls a knee up and slaps it, still on the side they started on.
40:09–0:10One hop, and the two cross in front of each other and trade sides. Every move after this is danced on the opposite side, so the photo order shows on screen.
50:11On their new sides, one hand goes to the head or the hair while the other arm swings up.
60:13They bend forward, hands on knees, and bounce toward the low camera until the take ends.

“Is that what you tell your little Puerto Rican mami?” is Rochelle's line to her husband Julius in Everybody Hates Chris, season 2, episode 16, “Everybody Hates Chain Snatching”, first aired on February 26, 2007.

In the meme, “your little Puerto Rican mami” means a secret girlfriend, and “all your little niños” a secret second family; the leap from one hidden card to all of that is why people play the line on repeat. The name comes only from the line: the dance has nothing to do with salsa, reggaeton or traditional Puerto Rican dance.
The setup
Rochelle finds a credit card Julius has kept from her for 15 years.
The punchline
She skips straight to the wildest explanation: “Is that what you tell your little Puerto Rican mami, huh? And all your little niños?”
Clips that play Rochelle's line on repeat circulate on TikTok; one posted that day by @.jjsvmp had about 1.2 million views on October 29.
Baby On The Track posts a Flint-style beat with the line on top; on October 29 that TikTok post showed about 3.3 million views, 365,000 likes and 78,000 shares.
@_kenyaad posts the two-person dance with @brebre, captioned “OUR DC”; on October 29 the TikTok post had about 517,000 views and 60,000 likes.
Duo covers follow under “2 person dance” and “dances to learn” captions, many crediting the two dancers. By October 29 at least nine covers and compilations had passed 300,000 views, the biggest about 914,000, and the sound's page listed 9,092 videos.

Each photo replaces one of the two dancers, who start side by side and trade places mid-take. You can swap the two photos: that only changes who starts on the left.

Replaces the dancer in the light-grey zip hoodie with the hood up, who starts on the left and finishes on the right.

Photo 2·Red braids
Replaces the dancer in the black beanie with long red braids, who starts on the right and finishes on the left.

It isn't a full song. The sound is a beat by the producer Baby On The Track with the sitcom line “Is that what you tell your little Puerto Rican mami?” on top. It is also not Young Miko's song “Puerto Rican Mami”, which is a different track.
Yes. Captions spell the line both ways, call it the “is that what you tell” dance or shorten it to ITWTYLPRM; it's all the same two-person dance.
No. This template needs two photos, one for each dancer; for a solo dance, use Motion Control instead.
Yes. The finished video plays the template's own sound, the beat with the line in it, so you can post it without adding audio.
It isn't free: each video costs credits. The price depends on the resolution you choose, and the Generate button shows the exact amount before you start. New accounts get 10 credits at sign-up.
No. There is no CapCut template to find and no prompt to write: add the two photos and generate.
No. This template is unofficial: it isn't connected to Everybody Hates Chris or its makers, to the dancers who made the routine or to the producer of the beat.
No. The arm raises, knee slaps and hands-on-knees finish need a human body, so this template takes photos of people only.
No. The night plaza, the length and the vertical frame come from the template; only the resolution can be changed.
