The Lonyo dance is the playground choreography in the music video for Lonyo!, a 2025 single by the London singer Bakar: in a London school playground, pupils in white shirts and red striped ties dance in small crews, solos and one big formation while a camera on the school roof swings from group to group.
Tom Emmerson directed it with a long lens from the rooftop, Joe Grey Adams, Jordan J Funk and Aisha Amuah choreographed the routines, and the idea came from a clip of South African pupils dancing in uniform in their playground. This template puts your photo at the centre of the crowd scene that opens the dance, and offers a solo version too.
DJ Loonyo, with two o's, is a Filipino dancer and DJ known for the Ignition dance challenge. A different person and a different dance.
Bakar's Lonyo! is the song and video this page uses: the crowd scene and the solo both come from it.
Layoo is Killa Moe's crew dance, a separate TikTok and AI trend that this template doesn't make.

Lonyo is a person: Lonyo Engele, the London singer and DJ whose UK garage single Summer of Love reached number 8 in the UK in 2000. Bakar samples that record in his song and named the track after him.

The chain goes one step further back: Summer of Love is itself built on Cruel Desilusión, a 1978 recording by La Critica, Oscar D'León's band. So the 2025 song carries a 2000 garage hit, which carries a 1978 record.
Bakar has described the song as London summers: his cousins coming home from garage raves in Moschino with stories, then going into school on Monday still feeling the party. David Reviews called the video "the best back to school commercial that's not a back to school commercial".

Bakar releases Lonyo!, with Tom Emmerson's playground video out the same day.
The video wins the first Best Casting in a Video award at the UK Music Video Awards and is nominated for Best Choreography and for best UK alternative video.
Creative Review names it one of the music videos of 2025, calling it "the epitome of summer fun".

The Crew version is the 7-second close-up at 0:26 in the official video, where the camera first drops into the playground crowd and holds on one boy in the middle. Your photo dances his part; these are his six moves, in order.
10:00He side-steps across the front of the crowd with one arm swinging out.
20:01Knees bent and elbows tucked in, he bounces low on the spot.
30:02He throws one arm up over his head and keeps the other low.
40:03The pose that stands out: both arms flung out to the sides at shoulder height, tie hanging straight.
50:04Hands drop to the hips and the elbows push out wide as he bounces.
60:07He finishes with a jump, chin tipped up to the sky.
The Solo version is the 10-second stretch at 1:21 in the official video, where a boy dances alone on the court; choose Solo in the generator at the top of the page.

Takes the lead at the centre of the crowd in the Crew version, or dances alone in the Solo version. Face, hair and build come from your photo; the white shirt, striped tie, black trousers and backpack stay from the clip, and every other pupil stays as filmed.

Yes. Each version carries the part of Lonyo! that plays under that scene in the official video, so your result comes with the song already on it.
You can lead it: the default Crew version puts you at the centre of the playground crowd, and the pupils around you keep dancing as in the video. Friends can't join, because the template takes a single photo; the Solo version has you alone on the court instead.
The lead in the clip is a schoolboy filmed from above, and the model sometimes pulls a grown-up toward his size and age; faces are also small in this shot. A straight-on, full-body photo helps, 1080p keeps more of the face, and you can run it again.
Yes to both. A dog or cat takes the lead standing up in the shirt and tie. Results from this template are always private, and a child's photo should be uploaded by a parent or with a parent's OK.
Not a big one. A clip Bakar posted on TikTok in August 2025 has about 650,000 views, the official video about 560,000 on YouTube, and the song's TikTok sound around 300 videos, all as of October 31, 2026. The first AI template for the dance appeared in October 2026.
A cast of London schoolchildren picked by casting director Selma Nicholls; that casting won Best Casting in a Video at the 2025 UK Music Video Awards.
A dance track with UK garage roots: it is built on a sample of Lonyo's 2000 garage single Summer of Love, and some reviews call it pop-house.
No. Oeneo AI isn't affiliated with Bakar, his label, Tom Emmerson or the school in the video; the template simply lets you take the lead in one of its scenes.
