Starts in the middle a step ahead of the other two and holds that spot for the first bars, then runs up to the lens and laughs before dropping back into the row.
Put three photos on the sunset court: you and two friends spin, flip your hair and take turns at the front, with the template’s camera, moves and sound.

The chipmunk dance is a three-person TikTok routine, also called the Alvin and the Chipmunks dance: three dancers in a row spin, circle their hands in the air, flip their hair and take turns at the front of the frame. The version most people copy is three friends on a tennis court at sunset.

The name comes from the high-pitched, sped-up mix the videos run on plus a three-person line-up that reads like a cartoon trio. Halloween pushed it further, with round ears, the Chipettes’ three colours and a letter on one top, although several of the biggest clips wear no costume at all.
The joke lives in the replies: any trio gets sorted into Alvin, Simon and Theodore, and someone always asks which one is Theodore. The biggest clip of the wave, posted on 17 October, is captioned “Dancing runs in the fam”, and the official Alvin and the Chipmunks account left a comment under it.
The routine is posted by @icm_triplets with a “dc: us” credit and reaches about 15.7 million views.
Two sped-up mixes uploaded in August by @keiford98 and @spotifyremixes_ become the two sounds most of this wave dances to.
College cheer and dance teams start posting game-day versions, and the routine spreads past dance TikTok.
@feta.legend posts “IRL CHIPETTES”, three friends in the trio’s colours, which pins the chipmunks name on the dance at about 7.1 million views.
@athenaa_c posts “Dancing runs in the fam”, at about 19.6 million views when counted on 2 November, and the franchise’s official account comments on it.
Dates, account names and view counts read on TikTok on 2 November 2026; the choreography credit comes from the dancers’ own captions.
The routine is a rotation: each dancer takes the front of the frame in turn, and the third one arrives late. The three stills show where each turn lands.
Grey hoodie · front from the startStarts in the middle a step ahead of the other two and holds that spot for the first bars, then runs up to the lens and laughs before dropping back into the row.
Maroon pants · front from about 5sStarts on the right, then takes the front with her back to the camera, flipping her hair and rolling her hips while the other two dance behind her, and comes close to the lens again a few seconds later.
White tank · front from about 15sHolds the left of the row until the last third, then rushes the camera, bends over and flips her hair, and in the full take stays in the middle to lead the closing bars.
Full take · 25s
The longer version carries on past that run: the third dancer takes the middle, the other two fall in behind, and all three finish together in the last bars.
Short cut · 15s
Within fifteen seconds everyone has had a turn: the opening row, the swap from the right and the run to the camera. It is the first version in the workbench and the one the example plays.
Three photos fill the three spots and nobody has to learn the routine. Swap two photos to swap who dances where.

Most of this wave dances to two sped-up mixes uploaded in August 2026, which their uploaders caption as “You Spin Me Round” crossed with “Big and Chunky”. The 2024 routine everyone copies used The Chipmunks’ version of “You Spin Me Round” from The Squeakquel soundtrack; the original is Dead or Alive’s 1984 record. Your video keeps the template’s own track and there is no field to swap it.
No. It is a fan routine that grew on TikTok, and this page has no connection to the franchise. The official Alvin and the Chipmunks account has commented under some of the big posts, which is the whole of the link.
No. Those are AI-made cartoon chipmunks dancing to a phonk track, a separate meme from the summer. This template puts you and two friends into a live-action three-person dance.
The template has three spots and takes three photos, one person or pet each. With only two of you, a pet can fill the third spot; two people in one photo will not fill two spots. Anyone can take any spot: the labels only mark where each dancer opens.
No. Nothing is added on top of your photos, so a costume only shows up if you wear one in the photo, and the template does not supply the official look.
No. The game uses another set of moves; here the steps come from the template clip, so nobody has to learn them.
Yes, a pet can take any of the three spots: upload one photo of the whole animal with its face visible. Turning a four-legged pet into a dancer who spins on two legs is the hardest thing this template does, so expect the odd loose frame.
The routine spins and flips hair fast, and that is where three identities are hardest to hold. A sharp, evenly lit full-body photo of each person gives the model its best chance; if two faces still swap, try another set of photos.
Only you. Every run of this template stays out of the public gallery whatever plan you are on, because two of the three photos usually belong to someone else.
Neither. The court, camera, moves and sound are built into the template, so there is no prompt box and nothing to assemble in an editor.
No, the court, the sunset and the fixed camera come from the template and only the three people or pets change. Choose photos that match each other in framing and light instead.
No. The routine comes from the template clip and your photos replace the dancers, so nobody has to learn it or be in the same room.
